Finance workingThe lawyer is asked once.
If the client needs to hear from the responsible lawyer, Finance sends one request: the reason, what's needed and a due date.
Awaiting lawyerThe lawyer replies.
The lawyer sees only their own matters and invoices, and responds in place.
Response to reviewFinance closes it.
Closed as verified when the ledger agrees, or as an exception with the reason recorded.
ClosedBuilt for how a finance team works
Finance keeps the case. The lawyer keeps their time.
Finance stays in charge.
Asking a lawyer doesn't hand the case over. Finance reviews the reply and decides what happens next.
Lawyers see only their own.
No client totals, no other lawyers' matters and no Finance notes.
Every step on the record.
The history shows who did what, and which steps the lawyer could see.
Questions
What partners ask us about the inbox.
Is each item assigned automatically?
No. Someone in Finance claims it, or assigns it to a colleague.
What does the lawyer see?
Only the matters and invoices in the request. Not the client's total, other lawyers' matters or Finance's notes.
Can an item be closed before it's fixed?
A trust shortfall can't be resolved while the ledger is still short. A collection case closes as verified, or as an exception with the reason recorded.
What about items that can wait?
They can be snoozed, delegated or resolved.
Is there anything we should be worried about?
